MSPS Greece for SAFE WATER SPORTS

MSPS Greece handles pro bono work for the non profit Safe Water Sports initiative. MSPS is offering its Media Relations services as well as organizing the first official press conference for Safe Water Sports.
Safe Water Sports is a social initiative aiming to raise the awareness of the society and to constantly inform the citizens on safety issues and regulations in water sports and water recreation.
Particular emphasis is placed on the compliance with safety regulations by professionals and businesses working in the water recreation industry in Greece. Safe Water Sports focuses particularly on the protection of children and youths in Water Recreation.
This extraordinary initiative was launched as a response to the tragic death of a Michail Paschalakis, a 10 year-old boy who was killed while practicing water sports on the island of Mykonos, in 2014.
The official announcement of the Safe Water Sports initiative was successfuly held in a press conference on Monday , June 15 in the Hellenic Olympic Committee.
Gold Olympic Medalist , Nikos Kaklamanakis was the initiative’s ambassador.

Vision

Safe water sports’ vision is to contribute to the reinforcement and improvement of water sports facilities and services provided to locals and tourists in beaches, rivers and lakes all around Greece.

Necessity

One of Greece’s main products is the sea and all the activities provided in and around it. In 2014, 21.5 m tourists visited our country.
With more than 2000 islands , Greece holds 11th place on the list of countries with biggest coastlines.
Every year 50000 european citizens (EE 27) are injured while enganging in water sports and motor operated vehicles in the water . Drowning is the number two cause of death among infants and children until the age of 18 , with an approximate 5000 deaths yearly ( in Europe )

Goals

The Safe Water Sports initiative offers locals and tourists who engage in water sports a complete online quide of water sports businesses, safety tips, as well as professionals who
practice safe water sports in our country. At the same time, the safe water sports platform gives people the chance to review and rate businesses based on their experience, thus building a complete quide of all the businesses who practice water sports safely and respectfully.
